Reader Reviews Average Reader Review: Number of Reviews: 29 1. Come On!!!! Reviewer: Paul from Guelph Date: 2/24/2002 11:50:40 AM This book rules for d&d. 2. The D&D Players Handbook Reviewer: Louis Langdeau from Fort Saskatchewan/Alberta (theotherpenguin@aol.com) Date: 5/19/2001 9:20:41 PM The definitive guide to the game that has captured the imaginations of millions of avid RPG fans. This simple book takes you into a magical realm wrought with treasure and danger at every turn. The Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook is the guide to entering this mythical land. What's that? You hear a snuffling noise around the corner! Is it a pig searching for food? Is it an orc looking to make you it's next meal? Or is it a Huge Dragon waiting to spout flame as soon as you look out to see?! Only you can decide! Pick up this book and join the millions of people who play and enjoy Dungeons & Dragons! 3. Best in years Reviewer: Robin Brown from Toronto Date: 4/5/2001 4:45:11 PM I swore I'd never play D+D after sampling vastly superior games from other companies. When they came out with this game, I looked, and I found they had fixed the things I always thought were the reasons not to play. This is a fantastic product and my hat goes off to the designers. They really thought out all of the little problems in the rules that kept cropping up in play. in short, they made the game fun again. plus, it's just a beautiful book as well. They also have the open game license which alows any company to make products for the game. (yes, WotC is bent on taking over the whole industry!!!) If they keep this level of quality, I'll be playing D+D for years to come. 4. Third Edition D&D Players Handbook Reviewer: Leland Whitman from Dartmouth/Nova Scotia Date: 3/20/2001 3:39:04 PM The new players handbook is a must for any serious gamer who enjoys playing D&D. The new d20 system introduced in the players handbook, makes the game simpler and more realisitc for gameplay. New players will find the new system of rules to be easier to understand, and will be playing like an experienced gamer in no time. Explinations of abilities, stats, scores, races are more complete, with the introduction of some old favorites, as well as some new skills, abilities, and classes. Being an avid D&D player for many years, I was skeptical, but I will admit that any serious gamer will enjoy the new handbook, and any one interested in gaming will find it most enjoyable. I would definately recommend this book to all my friends and all of my sessions have been updated to the new third edition. 5. Not bad Reviewer: Steven Hawes from Georgetown, ON Date: 2/14/2001 2:03:08 PM This book represents the Wizards of the Coast's effort to make Dungeons and dragon's truly it's own. To that end, WOC has introduced it's own gaming system. It is a simpler system designed to appeal to newer players. It may, unfortunately, drive away some of the diehard enthusiasts whose older texts will now be considered obsolete and may not translate that well into the new systems. Read all of the reviews...
