(2002) Book ~ Weis Margaret Path Of Daggers (1999) Book ~ Robert Jordan From the Publisher In the tenth book of The Wheel of Time from the New York Times #1 bestselling author Robert Jordan, the world and the characters stand at a crossroads, and the world approaches twilight, when the power of the Shadow grows stronger. Fleeing from Ebou Dar with the kidnapped Daughter of the Nine Moons, whom he is fated to marry, Mat Cauthon learns that he can neither keep her nor let her go, not in safety for either of them, for both the Shadow and the might of the Seanchan Empire are in deadly pursuit. Perrin Aybara seeks to free his wife, Faile, a captive of the Shaido, but his only hope may be an alliance with the enemy. Can he remain true to his friend Rand and to himself? For his love of Faile, Perrin is willing to sell his soul. At Tar Valon, Egwene al'Vere, the young Amyrlin of the rebel Aes Sedai, lays siege to the heart of Aes Sedai power, but she must win quickly, with as little bloodshed as possible, for unless the Aes Sedai are reunited, only the male Asha'man will remain to defend the world against the Dark One, and nothing can hold the Asha'man themselves back from total power except the Aes Sedai and a unified White Tower. In Andor, Elayne Trakland fights for the Lion Throne that is hers by right, but enemies and Darkfriends surround her, plotting her destruction. If she fails, Andor may fall to the Shadow, and the Dragon Reborn with it. Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn himself, has cleansed the Dark One's taint from the male half of the True Source, and everything has changed. Yet nothing has, for only men who can channel believe that saidin is clean again, and a man who can channel is still hated and feared -- even one prophesied to save the world. Now, Rand must gamble again, with himself at stake, and he cannot be sure which of his allies are really enemies. Reader Reviews Average Reader Review: Number of Reviews: 28 1. Boring Reviewer: Phil from Ontario Date: 2/16/2003 12:02:43 PM This was the longest most boring book that I have read in this series yet,I kept reading hoping it would climax at some point but nope it didn't happen.Mr. Jordan's attention to sorounding detail's of the million's of characters is way overdone, and what's worse is this book has gotten no farther in the story than where the last one left off at.I have read hundreds of fantasy novels and this was the most detailed go know where book yet.Sorry Mr. Jordan but this one was a disappointment. 2. disappointed fan of series Reviewer: S. McCutcheon from Mississauga, Ontario Date: 2/16/2003 11:19:22 AM This is a very disappointing addition to a wonderful series. It has sunk to the level of a soap opera. The book sets a scene but does little or nothing to advance the story. 3. Good book Reviewer: Viper22 from St.Johns (ryley_siscoe@hotmail.com) Date: 2/15/2003 3:19:22 PM To those readers who seem to like hasty books..... i have to disagree about the book being a disappointment. Yes, he did have a large amount of filler in the novel, but is it really that bad? His novels have never had this much filler before, so how can you get mad just because of one book? Every good series has at least one book with filler, you can't really blame the guy. In my opinion, Robert Jordan is a great writer and has come to bring a excellent and interesting world to life. (Sorry for bad spelling, i had to type this message rather quick.) =) 4. Didn't I read this already??? Reviewer: Falling Asleep from Ottawa/Ontario/Canada (nomail@email.com) Date: 2/13/2003 11:42:30 AM It seems to me the RJ has figured out what he wants to do for the rest of his life - continue this series. This volume is mostly a rehash of what has gone before with very little new material. At this rate we will have to wait for another 10 volumes for this series to be concluded. I was hooked after reading the first volume in the series but am now not going to even consider purchasing the next book without some indication that progress will be made. 5. Once more into the dark...and this is dark. Reviewer: Rick from Ottawa (blkknight@hotmail.com) Date: 2/12/2003 9:06:26 PM As all the others who have written here, I am a huge fan. So much so that in waiting for one of the books to come out, I got impatient and started to write it myself! ;-) Of course, it didn't turn out so well, but anyway... The Crossroads of Twilight was something I really looked forward to. I knew Jordan could do great things with it, he had certainly set himself up enough. ... And BOY did he ever let us down! There is only one simple thing I can say about this book...You know how every book has filler? That crap that is there just to take up space, make the book longer, and we put up with it because we know it can't ALL be action. Well, this ENTIRE book is filler. Jordan spend 700+ pages on crap that, while passing along tidbits, should have been condensed into one chapter. ... Maybe two. Ironically, the only actual action that happens in the whole book is at the end, and I mean the VERY end, the last page to be exact. People are saying wait for the paperback, I say save your mone Read all of the reviews...
